Privacy Policy
Opportiva ("Opportiva", "we") runs the Opportiva mobile app, which helps people in Tanzania find jobs. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, who we share it with and the choices you have. We process personal data in line with Tanzania's Personal Data Protection Act, 2022.
What we collect
- Account details: your phone number or email address (used to sign in), and your name if you add one.
- Your CV: anything you enter in the CV builder, such as your name, phone, email, city, date of birth, work experience, education, skills and summary.
- Preferences and activity: the sectors you choose, jobs you save, your notifications and whether job alert emails are on.
- Technical data: our servers log basic request information (such as IP address and time) to keep the service secure and working. The app also reports crashes and anonymous usage events (for example which screens are opened, or that a payment was started), with a device identifier but never your CV, name, phone number or email.
We do not collect your location, contacts, photos or payment details.
How we use it
- To sign you in by sending a one-time code by SMS or email.
- To show and recommend jobs that match your sectors.
- To send job alerts and reminders about saved jobs that are closing soon, in the app and by email (you can turn emails off).
- To store your CV so you can edit it and use it when applying.
- To keep Opportiva secure, prevent abuse and fix problems.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data. We do not send your CV to employers. When you apply, you go to the employer's own website or email and choose what to send them.
We use these service providers, who process data only to provide their service to us:
- Mifumo Labs (Tanzania): sends login codes by SMS.
- Zoho: sends login codes and job alert emails.
- Amazon Web Services: hosts our servers and stores encrypted backups. Some of this processing happens outside Tanzania.
- MalipoPay (Tanzania): processes mobile money payments. We receive your phone number and the payment result, never your PIN.
- Google Firebase: delivers push notifications, and collects crash reports and anonymous usage statistics so we can fix problems. This happens outside Tanzania.
- OpenAI: only when you use the AI features (CV review, cover letters, or reading a CV file you upload to fill in your CV), your CV and, for cover letters, the job advert are sent to OpenAI's AI to produce the result. Uploaded CV files are not stored by Opportiva. This happens outside Tanzania.
We may disclose data if required by Tanzanian law or to protect the safety of our users.
Job listings
Job listings come from public sources (for example the Ajira Portal) and from employers. Each job shows its source and links to the original posting.
How long we keep it
We keep your account data until you delete your account. When you delete it, we remove it from our live systems straight away. Copies remain in our database backups for up to 30 days (daily backups) and up to 12 months (monthly backups), after which they are deleted. Backups are only used to recover from failures.
Your rights
- See and correct your data in the app (Profile and CV), or ask us for a copy.
- Delete your account and data at any time: in the app under Profile → Settings → Delete account, or see how to delete your account.
- Stop job alert emails in Settings or with the unsubscribe link in any alert email.
- Complain to us at info.opportiva@zentrixafrica.com, or to Tanzania's Personal Data Protection Commission.
Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Access to our systems is restricted, and sign-in uses one-time codes instead of passwords.
Children
Opportiva is for people aged 16 and over who are looking for work. We do not knowingly collect data from younger children.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for important changes, tell you in the app.
